Freelance Legal Translators, Transcribers, and InterpretersID : 1890Department : LanguageLocation : VirginiaDescriptionFreelance Legal Translators, Transcribers, and InterpretersJTG is currently seeking translators, transcribers, and interpreters between English and one or more of the following languages :Amharic, Bengali, French, German, Korean, Nepali, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian & Ukrainian (trilingual), SpanishLocation : Remote (translation and transcription); remote or onsite (interpreting)Status : Freelance contractorCitizenship Status : U.S. citizen residing in the U.S. (dual citizenship permitted)Responsibilities :Provide accurate translation of documents involving law enforcement and legal subjectsTranscribe audio files and translate them into target languageCommunicate fluently in English orally and in writingTranslate in accordance with designated style and quality standardsUse domain-specific terminologyReview the quality of other translators’ work as neededInterpret accurately, while preserving the tone and register, and abiding by the code of ethics.Basic Qualifications :Proficient in translating between English and a foreign languageProficient in interpreting between English and a foreign languageExperience in audio transcriptionExperience as a professional translator, editor, transcriber, interpreter, journalist, writer, or legal professionalFamiliarity with legal terminologyWilling to undergo a US government background checkProficient in Microsoft OfficePreferred qualifications :Law degree, paralegal certificate, or court interpreting experienceExperience with editing, audio transcription, or interpretingSecurity clearanceEducation :Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceThis position reports to the Project Manager.

JTG is currently seeking translators, transcribers, and interpreters between English and one or more of the following languages :

Responsibilities :
- Provide accurate translation of documents involving law enforcement and legal subjects
- Transcribe audio files and translate them into target language
- Communicate fluently in English orally and in writing
- Translate in accordance with designated style and quality standards
- Use domain-specific terminology
- Review the quality of other translators’ work as needed
- Interpret accurately, while preserving the tone and register, and abiding by the code of ethics.
